THE PIANIST STUDIO
The Music of Nathaniel Sergeant
Born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Nathaniel discovered his affinity for “tickling the ivories” at an early age, studying piano for eight years under the direction of musician and teacher David Steeves.
Later, it was his growing interest in and expansion of his repertoire to include Japanese music that inspired his study of Japanese as a second language and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics. Music is often described as a language in of itself - how fitting then that a student of Linguistics should also be able to speak to people through the music that he loves.
He is comfortable with a variety of styles including classical and jazz and has an expanding repertoire of traditional and contemporary hymn arrangements, beloved classics, and more. To learn more about his featured services, please read on and explore the site.

PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
I have played piano for over 17 years and hold Level 10 certification from The Royal Conservatory of Music. I first began sharing my music through volunteer recitals at Assisted Living homes in the Fredericton area including Ste. Anne’s Court and York Care Centre. While attending university in Ottawa, I was employed as the rehearsal pianist for The Greely Players’ production of “Beauty and the Beast.” Since returning to Fredericton, I have continued to pursue professional opportunities to share music both individually and alongside other musicians and performers, including working as an accompanist for UNB Chorale and entrants in the annual Fredericton Music Festival. I am available to play at private and corporate events and offer recitals at Assisted Living homes and musical services for weddings and other occasions. I am also pleased to offer private lessons at the Long & McQuade Lesson Centre.
Please read on for a full description of my services.

AN OCCASION FOR MUSIC
I am pleased to provide entertainment for a number of occasions and events, including weddings, private parties, corporate functions, and funerals / memorial services.
Whatever your musical requirements, I will work with you to develop a program that complements the theme and setting of any occasion. I perform many different styles and will gladly accept requests, provided that I am given sufficient time to obtain new music.

PRIVATE LESSONS:
FOR YOUTH AND THE YOUNG AT HEART
(In-Person or Online)
If you are interested in developing your musical technique and learning to express yourself through the music that is important to you, these lessons are for you. I believe that the process of learning how to play any instrument should be more than solely mastering technique and seek to incorporate creativity and personal inspiration into the learning process. I am happy to work with children, teens, and adult students – true beginners and returning learners alike – to draw out their creative side and help them discover the joy of music.

RECITALS FOR RETIREES
Playing at Assisted Living homes is one of my favourite ways of speaking to people through my music. I find great fulfillment in providing an escape for people as I play through traditional to contemporary hymns and classics, often bringing back favourites such as “Danny Boy” and “Morning Has Broken.” I will invest a great deal of time in preparing a special musical program for each visit that incorporates a variety of styles to suit the tastes of all in attendance. I am happy to incorporate special requests into my repertoire for a return visit. With something for everyone, I look forward to expanding my visits to include other establishments and making new connections wherever I go.
